Not just proud to be an Indian, It’s an Honour

Author: Mukul / Labels: , ,

I was few days back reading a report that was pushed into Media quoting that 54% of Indians do not have Toilets, there are more Mobile Phones in India then Toilets. It feels like laughing at those people who come out with such claims. No one came out with the result “why”. So I write this Blog to remind the History to those Western people who continue to be Ignorant and Narrow Minded when it comes to India.

I am quoting an address of Lord Macaulay in British Parliament on 2nd February, 1835

“I have travelled length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is beggar, who is thief. Such a wealth I have seen, such a high moral values, people of such caliber that I do not think we would ever conquer this country unless we break the very backbone of this nation”

Now I am quoting few of the scholars those who are not Indians:

India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great grand mother of traditions.     - Mark Twain.

We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made.     - Albert Einstein.

Those who have read, The Wings of Fire - Dr Kalam  would make out that at one instance Dr. Kalam was found quoting that The Britishers when COWARDLY caught Tipu Sultan in 1799, were amazed to find that an uneducated person has invented Rocket Launchers and armory that were never seen by Western Nations earlier. He is the only Indian Pioneer depicted in NASA with his rocketry which was taken away. Hence, it was reverse engineering and Indian Rocketry met a demise of more than 150 years.

These are some facts that no one can deny. Now let me put the brief history of America to justify myself:

1777 – The Year when all the Colonial States of America united and formed United States of America
1955 – Civil Right Movement Initiated by Sir Martin Luther King
1963- Women Rights Initiated
1991- USA only Superpower after USSR’s Disintegration.
1996- Formation of Taliban
2005- First Non White President – End of Racism

I would like the reader to stress on the years as it unfolds. It took USA 178 long years to initiate for Civil Rights after Independence from Europe and more precisely U.K, it took them another 40 years to be declared as Super Power that too after Disintegrating USSR and not DEFEATING. And it took just 5 years for them to Create the Biggest THREAT TO THIS WORLD “TALIBAN” – Sister Company AL-Qaeda for short momentarily gains in Asia ( Comes from horse’s mouth himself – Asif Ali Zardari, Pak President in an Interview that Taliban was A Brainchild of USA and Pakistan to Defeat USSR out of Afghanistan).  Do we Indians still need explanations? After 60 years of Independence America was a country with Slavery, Red Indians, and Racism (It took them 228 years to end racism) {I no where have any intentions to hurt anyone.}

India is hailed to be Caste Based Country with widespread Discrimination and Communal Violence. I completely agree to that as no country is born with  complete maturity and in a complex scenario like that of India, I bet no nation could have ever survived as been Said by Hitler – that this country will never be in peace and unity but we proved him wrong.

Our Constitution was formed by a said Lower Caste Person – Sir Ambedkar. It took us just 57 years to Prove our Unity when A Roman Catholic women was made to step down and give way to A Sikh Person to be Sworn as The Country’s Prime Minister with A Muslim President in a country with 85% Hindus. The Muslim President been elected by a party known to be a hardliner HINDUTVA.  I by no means want to compare nations or want someone to be lead down but it is my Endeavour to pose My Country as no less or behind anyone.

India is stepping up with a Vision 2020 to be a Global POWER and NOT Superpower. With an average GDP of 6-7% we have proved our candidature. It took India just 20 Years to overcome all Social Taboos and Bondages after Globalization of the Economy in 1990. Few days back another achievement was added into India’s Golden Book when an India bought the Loss making East – India Company that ruled India for Century. An Indian, Arcelor Mittal would Supply Steel to London in the Construction for Olympics to be scheduled next in UK. India has large unorganized sector with Rickshawwala, Paperwala, Scrapwala, Vegetable Vendor etc which constitutes 40% to Indian Economy and are no Direct Tax Payers. The day these people come to join the mainstream, I do not expect India to stop at even 12% GDP. When a person with mere earning of Rs. 3000 per month has a mobile phone and every 5 Indian out of 15 is related with Business – Organized or Unorganized, they all contribute to Nation’s Development slow but steady.

It gives me immense sense of Satisfaction and love for my country when a mother after loosing her only child in battle of Kargil comes out speaking I had just one Boy” proves that India will and will Never DIE. We are born in a country where a person failed in his 10th Standard and now the same class has his chapter in their Curriculum – Mr Tendulakar. There is not a single country left in the World to have memorized The A.R Rehman’s “Jai Ho”. This is the very same country that knew Modern Surgery way back when PHds or Doctors ever existed in the form of “The Susruta”, The Creator of Trigonometry and Arithmetic, The Aryabhatta was an Indian. India is the mother of more than 3 Religions and Preserver of many Cultures and Art Forms without any Anti- Semitic Movement. The only country with unmatched History of 1000 years of been Non - INVADER.

Hence, at last I conclude by saying:

“I am not just proud to be an Indian; it’s my HONOUR to be an INDIAN.”

India with Gen-Next Politicians

Author: Mukul / Labels: , ,

Whenever it comes to unraveling our Youth Talent in Politics, the first name that comes to every mind is from the Biggest Political Family of India & The most Hyped Politician of Decade “Rahul Gandhi”. People have almost come to the conclusion that Rahul is set to be the Next Prime Minister while I guess scribbling his name in Guinness Books for being a family with all PMs. The Biggest success in his Political Journey so far is the Youth Talent Hunt for the Legislators and State Assemblies for Congress. Not to mention here that there are many more young and tech – savvy politicians who have found in-roads through Blogs (in the lights of Mr. Advani) some with huge controversies (Mr. Tweeteroor). Some of them have been rather more Pro-working than writing – like P.Chidambaram, Mr J.Ramesh and Mr Sibal, whom I find are few competent Ministers in the Working Government presently.

The Biggest Irony of Rahul is being the unprecedented task to bring Inner Party Democracy to Congress while he himself is chairing the Youth Congress, NSUI and is the Party’s General Secretary. At least I must appreciate him for being Truthful of accepting the much known unsaid fact what some politicians have cried since Independence. I still remember his Maiden speech when he mentioned an unheard name “Kalavati” in Parliament, to which almost the complete house burst to laughter including him. He explained her tireless Journey of the atrocities in her life. It is needless to remind him that “Garibi Hatao” was Indira’s slogan which has been now completely proving to be “GARIB HATAO” with Unprecedented Price Rise which I term as “LEGALISED KILLINGS or GOVT. INITIATED POPULATION PLANNING”. It is again Ironical that the same lady came to his office and stood there unheard for many hours till the Media spotted her as the “Deity to Poor” and then she stood against Congress in Mumbai Election and then Backtracked quite possibly after pressure from Political Corridors.

It is again quite surprising that in UPA-II, when the first parliament session began in Delhi last year there were farmers on one side shouting for Justice and High Earning Air India Pilots on the Other side striking for their rights. To the mockery of the situation, the media reported that The Prime Minister has assured Rahul Gandhi for a speedy action curb this Price Rise rather than assuring the NATION or at least to those who were on strike? His so called Pro-Dalit stance seems just another hypocrite stunt to regain some lost grounds in Non- Congress states, thanks to the Media hype to that issue. I hope giving food and jobs to Dalits should be preferred over staying and eating with them (I also strongly refute the use this Words again and again by him). I fail to understand the meaning of word DALIT as hyped by him- Does he mean that all Poor are Dalits or all Dalits are Poor? I hope for a change in legacy, he starts non-community, non-minority and non- caste based politics which will not only fetch him Votes but will unite this country.

I have already mentioned about his disastrous train journey to intimidate Shiv Sena in my blog before.
http://mukulguptainin1.blogspot.com/2010/02/questions-speak-more-than-answers.htmlNot only did he waste the Common Man’s Money in his 6 hours high profile media and Politically Star dusted campaign but also gave an issue undeserving importance. I guess one good part of his campaign is his regular Visits to the lengths and breadths of the Country. It will not only help him to understand the complex structure of Bureaucracy at different states but also to encounter lofty ideas through his meeting with School and College kids. I must here like to point out that what he is doing is no different to what others have done. I think the mere difference being that he has Choppers at his disposable while others had to go for the Bumpy rides all along. Almost all the National Leaders have done such visits across India while the local leaders have visited their Talukas, Zillas, and Districts etc. Even I heard that one of the BJP MLA in Rajasthan used to accompany the Dead to the Cremation ground in his area and has undefeated track record.

Needless to say that the Youth- Importance that he is shouting has already been said and implemented on various occasions by the People like Dr. Kalam even before he was born. What adds humour to the story is that he was spotted asking young school kids to Join Politics who recently came to Parliament to see the sight of the law makers breaking almost all the laws laid down on the floor themselves. He should first set some moral code of conduct for his Party men in Parliament to set an example.

He has been not been very far away from controversies which have given ample of scope to the opposition to quote him as “Another Immature Politician”. I guess his quote where he mentioned NSG belong to UP and Bihar – Divides India, if a Gandhi Was ruling the Center in 1990’s the Babri Masjid would have never been demolished – I guess he should make it very clear in his mind the finest PM that Congress Produced was undoubtedly Mr. Rao and India became Immerging Power in the world after his Government only. As many other Congressmen have forgotten all the good points of that government I do aspect some like him to be fair enough. His latest comment on linking the rivers as being wastage of money and time shows that either he comes underprepared or he has made it the point to always swim against the flow to be in media glare. I hope that he should come out with better and another innovative version to substitute this Project because India is seriously in Need of linking waters to avoid anymore Draughts.

If Rahul Gandhi is making his road for the Next PM than I guess he needs to put lots of stuffs in the place including his Knowledge about the Issues where he was sometimes found ducking to the questions in get together at School/College Campuses.  He is attributed to be a youth icon of the country and will probably be the youngest PM of the country. It is always good for a Nation to have young leaders taking the charge as it has been observed that they do not shy away with implementing any new lofty ideas. They have instinct to modify them and fit to the situation as when its required, they are found to be more flexible and open-minded in the way they function which will prove to be beneficial for the Developing Country like India.

At the end of the Post I would like the Youth of India to be more practical and futuristic in their approach. It is not the age but the talent with a sense of getting the work done that matters. I still find it hard to spot any Politician with a Moto - “The Country first, The People next and The Party last”. Indian is still craving to break all the social taboos and bondages that has confined it to be a soft & slow state for 50 years. We need few good, strong, determined and hard line leaders with the basic foundation and focus set on making India to be developed in next 10 years.

Indians still wait to Explore True India!

India’s Wishy- Washy Laws

Author: Mukul / Labels: ,

The Indian Law came into the effect on 26th January 1950 was largely “Copy Paste” of English Common Law which had been changed almost 100 years back but Our Legal System remains the very same. I still remember two phrases I wrote in my earlier blog for the Legal system in India:

1.      There is rule and there is Law but there is no rule of Law In India
2.      Justice prevails in only 2 conditions in India, One if you know the law and second if you know the law minister (strictly means power and is not personal remark).

The Indian Constitution was made flexible by the makers where it has been amended almost 94 times unlike USA which just got 27, their law being rude and rigid. There are many Problems that Changing India is facing which are untouched by our law yet. Thanks to our rotten politics with the sole ingredients of Minority and Caste appeasement which has left it Spineless. I remember that NDA led Govt. made an initiative to upgrade the law which was opposed by calling it REWRITTING the LAW, ANTI- AMBEDRKAR and hence, quite surprisingly ANTI – MINORITY.

There are various issues which need to be dealt with utmost priority but the internal mutiny for Vote Bank seems overpowering it since Independence:

1.      I feel surprised when I came to know that there is no Law existent in India for Sexual Exploitation of minor kids especially Males unlike Females(54% kids being exploited as per a survey). In case of Female, the Pervert is treated with rape charges but there is no mention for the Male Minor as if Constitution thinks that Minor Boys can’t be exploited.

2.      Recently, I heard that my friend’s father died of Heart Attack in a train when he was coming back from his native village to Hyderabad. It is quite surprising that India railways being the 3rd largest Industry in World do not provide any Medical assistance in even Long Running Trains. Even stopping the Train would not have fetched anything for that South Indian heavy built tall man, Thanks to our Great Road Network and Health Facilities. Mumbai Local Train Carries Millions of People daily but it was the courage and Initiative of a Determined Man who lost his both legs in a Train accident to make the Govt. implement laws that Bound each Station to be equipped with Immediate First Aid facilities which If given to him would have save his legs.

3.      We generally hear from our Most Honest Police commenting that there are less Number of Rapes, Murders and Robbery though the unbiased surveys show completely different picture. It is because 6 out of 10 are only reported and FIR’ d  and hence there is no law which compels the Police to report even a complaint in their registers so that they are bound to reply to the Court.

4.      India is the leader in bringing Scrap from the World but there are no laws or codes for the Import of such scrapes and they mostly enter unchecked. The Recent fiasco in Delhi where radioactive Cobalt 60 was found in Scrap shows that how foolish a human can be. If the amount was even as big as a matchbox, the complete locality could have been under serious life threat. There are cases where live explosives and Missiles were found in scraps but still we are mere spectators to such Feeble Laws or rather the unwritten Laws.

5.      The Dowry Law- IPC 498A has become a Law for revenge which by and large observed by the Courts as being exploitation by the Bride’s house to sue Groom. It was written rightly to avoid domestic violence but this seems to have backtracked and the majority of cases filled under this are found fake and under motive to humiliate and avenge which has been termed as “Legal Terrorism”.

6.      There is no law to compensate for the loss and damage caused when the some Political group which resorts to violence in order to be heard (in the lights of Maharashtra’s fiasco on Movie – Marathi Manoos etc). There is no law to subside the Communal and Caste based Violence which has struck India even in 2010 ( recently in Bareilly)

7.      99% of Indians continuously abuse and refute the Politicians but on the Judgment Day we find our Lazy Beds and Couches more Comfortable and the Election Day is a day to celebrate Sleep with the Voting turnout to be marginal 44% in average. Duty and Right to Vote has been said endlessly but apart from “Gujarat” no other Indian state has come out with strict LAWS for Compulsory VOTE.

The above are just few cases that came across and there are many more loop-holes that still exist in our legal system and are known by only those who have passed through its tiresome journey. The People are Doing what actually the Government should do either by awareness Programs or by Scripting them in law. These feeble laws will prove to be catastrophic in near future as our growing demographic dividend will find easy to earn on these leaks in the system as been done in the case of Harshat Mehta and Ketan Parikh who turned out to be the eye openers for the Law Makers.

It is better to be safe and sound than to be sorry. The Britishers have time and again improved their constitution as per the growing need for the generation but It seems Indians take it hard to realize the Tragic Instances when More Stringent laws could have saved many lives and avoided atrocities on its People . There are already 2 crores cases pending and it seems that another case needs to filled for making social and judicial reforms which will end up being 2crore and one.

India is said to be a soft state but I wonder how long will the Society remain the Soft Society?
